As an evergreen, fir trees are commonly seen around the holidays since they are used as Christmas trees. Bearing cylindrical seed cones, the seeds of these trees are dispersed by the wind. Generally around one hundred sixty feet tall, firs can be found in the mountains or in forests. Although it can fare hardily in times of frost, these trees do not do well in times of drought.
